Updated Debian Lenny eAccelerator packages again (AMD64)

And again there are some updated packages for eAccelerator 0.9.5.3 on Debian (AMD64)

If you update the packages using my repository you'll get them anyway.

Pagerank 2 for my site

During the last Pagerank update my site got a better pagerank and has now 2. Not sooo much though, but still...

So thanks to everybody reading or at least visiting my page and setting backlinks!!

I'll try to keep posting interesting stuff that makes it worthwhile coming back here.

Backporting Subversion 1.6 to Debian Etch

Unfortunately I've to use a machine running Debian Etch. Yes, that's pretty old and it should definetily updated to Lenny asap, BUT I'm not the admin... *sigh*

It's getting even harder since we'd like to use Subversion 1.6 on that machine for some reason. Firstly because of the better reintegration mechanisms compared to 1.5. Therefore I'm trying to backport the current Squeeze packages to Etch.

Updated Debian Lenny eAccelerator packages (AMD64)

There are security updates for PHP on Debian Lenny amd therefore I updated the eAccelerator package.

If you run aptitude update; aptitude safe-upgrade regularly against my repository you'll get them anyway.

VirtualBox: Slow network, bad checksums and retransmissions

OK, I've to admit that I still use Windows for some tasks, even worse it's Windows Vista. The good point is that I use a virtualised version running on VirtualBox.

Unfortunately I faced some trouble with my network connection being quite slow while accessing network drives and internal server while the internet seemed to work very fine. I got so annoyed meanwhile that I started an investigation with Wireshark and figured out that I have lot's of error messages.

Sun Java 5 on Ubuntu Karmic

Since the End of Life of Sun's Java 5 is reached and even the End of Service Life (EOSL) at 8th of October 2009 already passed the Ubuntu developers removed Sun's Java 5 from Karmic (Bug 418577).

Roundcube installer (version 0.3) and eAccelerator

I use Roundcube mail from time to time, but faced some errors or weird behaviour regularly. I therefore decided to re-install the latest stable version, which is 0.3 at the time of this writing.

It was quite easy the last time, so I expected having it done in minutes. I failed!! I regularly got empty pages and wasn't able to run through the installer... *sigh* After a while of debugging the code, I got the idea that eAccelerator might cause the trouble and added

  1. php_admin_value eaccelerator.enable 0

to my Apache's vhost settings.

Meizu M6, Rhythmbox and HAL

I already wrote about my Meizu M6 and Rhythmbox and how to get them working together. This time HAL, the hardware abtraction layer in recent Linux systems is involved.

Jabber/XMPP and ICQ transport through a Squid proxy using port 443 (https)

I'm running my own Jabber server for quite a while using ejabberd. I was a bit uncertain if an Erlang based application is the right for me, but ejabberd runs just fine.

At some point I ran into the problem that my new company only allow access to the internet via a Squid proxy server. I therefore wasn't able to connect to my server any longer *sigh* I was looking for some alternatives that would allow me to have ICQ at my fingertips as well.
